Iribancha

400g / 600 yen
It is said that tea was originally discovered after a forest fire. The smell of scorched tea trees spread through the land, intriguing the surrounding inhabitants, and the rest is history. It can be said that Iribancha is close to the first brewing experimentations carried out by our tea-loving ancestors. We strive to recover this primordial tea through its unique preparation, according to traditional methods. For more information about the fascinating process of preparing Iribancha for infusion, please see its definition in our Glossary.
“Get your flowers! Get your ‘Bancha!’ shouted women of the district of Shirakawa when soliciting tea on the street corners of Kyoto. Iribancha can be served cold in summer, and hot in winter for climate-appropriate refreshment. Like Houjicha, Iribancha is mild in caffeine, and enjoyed by elders and young children alike. It has a very unique taste and smell, so we recommend you buy just one pack the first time, to see if it is to your liking. Houjicha Powder

100g / 800 yen
It isn’t Matcha! But it does share some things in common. The excellence of Uji city’s Matcha and Houjicha alike is renowned. If quality tea is purchased, both have extremely vivid aromas, telling of the sensory voyage ahead. Truth be told, this Houjicha Powder has some simple advantages over Matcha; High quality Matcha powder preserving the experience of Matcha despite being baked and blended, costs a pretty penny. In comparison, this Houjicha Powder of exceptional quality, able to maintain the embodiment of the finest Houjicha, is a steal. Not only can it preserve the flavors and scents of Houjicha tea in pastries, coffee drinks, or any other cuisine, its shelf life outlasts that of a lower-quality Matcha that may be equal to it in price. This Houjicha Powder is as thinly ground as Matcha, and can be used exactly like it, to bring the enchanting, woody, smoky touch of Houjicha to all kinds of confections. And unlike Matcha, it is almost entirely free of caffeine, making the consumption it safe for everyone. The sky is the limit with this Houjicha Powder.
