Sencha

At Rishouen Tea Shop, we carefully select teas primarily from excellent growing regions within Kyoto Prefecture known for their superior aroma. Our sencha is crafted by blending aromatic teas and umami-rich teas in a way that highlights the strengths of each leaf. We believe you will feel the beautiful expansion of flavor across the palate when you take a sip.

Enjoy the changing character of the tea through the first, second, and third infusions. We also offer limited-quantity single-field / single-origin teas, which can be ordered through our online shop.

Mujou Betsugi Sencha

80 g — ¥3,000

In the tea villages of Uji, glossy needle-shaped leaves are called “Mirume.Their delicate flavor captivates anyone who drinks them. This sencha is blended using rare early-harvest leaves from the first flush of spring, available only at the very beginning of the harvest season.

Gokujou Sencha

80 g — ¥2,000

This sencha offers a well-balanced profile, combining the fresh youthful aroma of young leaves with the umami that develops as the tea plants mature.

Betsujou Sencha

80 g — ¥1,500

This price range represents what we consider a well-balanced Uji-style sencha. If someone asks us for a recommendation, this is usually the first tea we suggest. It features a refreshing aroma and a clean, pleasant umami.

Jou Sencha

80 g — ¥1,000

Our classic everyday sencha, crafted so that the umami is not overly strong.It expresses the pleasant bitterness typical of traditional sencha, making it a well-balanced and approachable tea.

Cold Brew Sencha

100 g — ¥1,500

Cold-brewed sencha is a low-calorie natural beverage rich in vitamin C and fluoride, while containing less caffeine and tannins. Although ideal for cold brewing, it can also be enjoyed as a naturally sweet sencha when brewed with warm water. Another recommended method is to brew it hot and serve it over ice.
